Description: Annual herb, 10–40 cm high, often unbranched below the inflorescence, sparsely hirsute.
Leaves opposite and obovate to elliptic at base, alternate and ovate to lanceolate above, 2–35 mm long, 0.5–7 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, margins flat or sometimes undulate ± entire, lower leaves sparsely hirsute, upper leaves glabrous, Flowers in cymes or solitary on stalks 2–10 cm long.
Flowers in cymes or solitary on stalks 2–10 cm long. Sepals 2–5 mm long. Corolla blue; tube 1.5–3.5 mm long; lobes 6–12 mm long. Style 3-fid, constricted about halfway down.
Capsule ellipsoid or globose, 3–6 mm long, glabrous to sparsely hirsute.
Flowering: winter–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in open sites in various plant communities, south from the Orange district.
