Description: Perennial or annual tufted herb, 4–90 cm high, branching below inflorescence, upper parts usually glabrous, lower parts ± hirsute.
Leaves alternate or sometimes the lowermost opposite, obovate or oblanceolate, becoming linear up the stem, 2–60 mm long, 0.2–12 mm wide, apex obtuse to acute, margins flat or undulate, entire or with small callus teeth, lower leaves ± hirsute, upper leaves glabrous.
Flowers in cymes. Sepals 1–4 mm long. Corolla usually blue, sometimes white or pink; tube 1–5 mm long; lobes 2–7 mm long. Style 3-fid, usually not constricted.
Capsule cylindric or globose, often appearing swollen, 2.5–9 mm long, glabrous.
Flowering: throughout year.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in open sites in a variety of plant communities of arid and semi-arid regions; west from Narrabri and Rankins Springs districts.
