Description: Perennial herb 1–2 m high; branches erect, 4-angled, smooth.
Leaves narrow-ovate, 4–5 cm long, c. 1 cm wide, apex acuminate, base ± acute and slightly winged, margins coarsely toothed, moderately villous; sessile.
Inflorescence a lax terminal corymb with long branches ending in a dense spike; bracts equal to or shorter than calyx. Calyx 5-toothed, 1.5–2 mm long. Corolla purple, 1.5–2 times as long as calyx; tube 2.5–3 mm long.
Flowering: Flowers throughout year.
Distribution and occurrence: Weed chiefly in coastal districts from the Picton to the Lismore area. Native of S Amer. Grows along roadsides, of wasteland and cultivated areas,
