Description: Perennial herb, mostly glabrous, glaucous.
Leaves elliptic to narrow-obovate, usually 10–12 cm long, mostly 3–4 cm wide, margins deeply toothed to entire.
Scapes erect, to 50 cm high; bracteoles fused into a disc-like funnel to 7 cm diam., margin toothed. Sepals 3, free; upper one broad-elliptic to ± circular, 5–8 mm long. Corolla 11–13 mm long, shortly spurred, yellow, usually pubescent outside except for glabrous wings, ± glabrous inside with enations; wings shorter than inferior lobes, usually < 1 mm wide. Indusium depressed-ovate, c. 3 mm wide; villous.
Capsule ± globose, c. 4 mm diam., glabrous; seeds elliptic, c. 3 mm diam., punctate; wing narrow.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath on shallow sandy soil over sandstone; confined to the Hawkesbury district to the upper Hunter Valley.
