Description: Small annual herb.
Leaves mostly 15–40 mm long, to 1 mm wide, glabrous, usually reddish.
Inflorescences several, each borne on an axis c. 10–35 mm long; bracts ovate to narrow-ovate, 2–3 mm long, longer than the flowers. Stamens 2–6 per inflorescence, surrounded by c. 10–20 female flowers. Styles 3, appearing as 6 when divided.
Flowering: chiefly November–December
Distribution and occurrence: Scattered in areas subjected to flooding, and shallow temporary depressions and small watercourses; south from Lockhart district.
