Description: Succulent annual with slender taproot, erect, prostrate or decumbent; young shoots pubescent.
Leaves narrow- to broad-ovate, elliptic or rhombic, to 10 cm long, to 5 cm wide, petiolate.
Flowers yellow-green, solitary in the axils, perianth lobes 4, 1–2 mm long, pubescent. Stamens 4–8. Styles mostly 8–13.
Fruit broad-ovoid to ellipsoid, variably ribbed on side with 2 lateral and moslty 2–6 (sometimes more) smaller and claw-like projections, or ± equal.
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in arid and semi-arid areas.
