Tephrosia grandiflora (L'Hér. ex Aiton) Pers. APNI* 
Description: Erect shrub, mostly 1–2 m high, branches variously pubescent.
Leaves 4–10 cm long, leaflets 11–15; leaflets oblong to linear, 10–35 mm long, 3–9 mm wide, apex acute, obtuse or mucronate, upper surface ± glabrous to sparsely pubescent, lower surface appressed-hairy; petiole 5–15 mm long; stipules ovate to broad-ovate, 6–10 mm long.
Racemes terminal, clusters of buds enclosed in broad bracts. Calyx 5–7 mm long, rusty- to golden-hairy; teeth subulate, 2–3 mm long. Corolla 15–25 mm long, purple to dark pink.
Pod linear, compressed, 6–8 cm long, 8–10 mm wide, bristly along sutures.
Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated, occasionally naturalized, on the coast from Kiama to Port Macquarie, chiefly in Sydney district. Native of S Afr.
