Description: Low-growing perennial to 25 cm high; stems ± glabrous, the few hairs minute, loose or ± appressed and basifixed.
Leaves mostly 3–6 cm long; leaflets 1–7, narrow-lanceolate to narrow-elliptic, lateral leaflets c. 10–40 mm long, 1–5 mm wide, apex acuminate, both surfaces glabrous or with a few scattered hairs; stipules variable 1–15 mm long, sometimes with an acute lateral tooth, abaxial ridge indistinct.
Racemes 2–20-flowered; flowers 6–10 mm long. Calyx glabrous, teeth ± equal to tube. Corolla pink to purple; keel apex obtuse, erect. Style tip incurved or inflexed.
Pod elliptic 20–45 mm long, glabrous or pubescent; style c. 6 mm long; stipe minute or absent.
Distribution and occurrence: in heavy red or black soils in depressions and along creek lines.
