Description: Perennial or annual to 60 cm high, glabrous; stems erect to ascending, often branched above.
Leaves linear, 7–30 mm long, 1–2.5 mm wide.
Inflorescence cylindrical, spike-like; flowers in several-bracted clusters of 1–5, subsessile to shortly pedicellate; bracts imbricate, ovate, erose to lacerate. Hypanthium 0.5–0.9 mm long. Sepals c. 1 mm long, shallowly erose to finely toothed. Corolla yellow-green or pale or dark yellow; tube 2–6 mm long; lobes 1–4 mm long, obtuse to acuminate.
Cocci 1–3, pyriform to unequally dumbbell-shaped, slightly curved, 1–4 mm long, apex sharply tuberculate; basal cavity deep.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in woodland and grassland, in sandy and loamy soils, often in arid areas associated with Spinifex; north from Tallebung.
