Sporobolus disjunctus R.Mills ex B.K.Simon APNI* Description: Erect tufted perennials to c. 80 cm tall, with intravaginal shoots.
Ligule a fringed membrane to 0.7 mm long with longer marginal cilia; blade to 8 mm wide, flat or involute.
Inflorescence to 25 cm long, of solitary, appressed main branches bearing spikelets to their base, as long as or longer than adjaceant internodes; pedicels 0.1–0.8 mm long. Spikelets 2–2.3 mm long. Glumes membranous; lower 0.8–1 mm long, acute, 1-nerved; upper glume 1.8–2 mm long, at least 50% the length of the spikelet, acute, 1-nerved, glabrous. Lemma 2–2.3 mm long, acute, 1-nerved; palea 1.8–2.1 mm long, shorter than the lemma, 2-nerved.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on black self-mulching soils.
