Description: Spreading woody perennial herb 25–50 cm high with procmbent stems 10–40 cm long; dense to sparse stellate indumentum.
Leaves broadly ovate or rotund-ovate, 0.5–3.5 cm long, apex obtuse, base truncate or rounded or broadly cuneate, rarely subcordate, margins crenate-dentate, surfaces stellate-hairy, denser below, dull greenish yellow , 3–5-nerved from base; petiole mostly 3–10 mm long; stipules subulate, 3–10 mm long.
Flowers mostly solitary or sometimes few in the axils; pedicels articulate in the middle, 0.5–3 mm long. Calyx cup-shaped to 5 mm long, lobes triangular, acuminate, 2–3 mm long, pubescent outside, glabrous or finely hairy inside, purplish. Petals yellowish, shortly exceeding calyx, lobes obovate, emarginate, 2–3 mm long.
Fruit ovoid, 3–5 mm wide; mericarps 5, pubescent, acute at apex, slightly rugose on back, pitted on lateral wall, finely hairy.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually on rocky hillsides on sandy clay-loam or stony soils in open woodlands.

Similar to S. corrugata, which has larger, more corrugate fruits, more mericarps (6-10), and longer pedicels and petioles.
