Description: Erect or prostrate subshrub to c. 80 cm high; persistently blue-grey to green-grey tomentose, the branches occasionally brownish.
Leaves narrowly oblong or narrowly ovate, 1–5 cm long, 2–8 mm wide, rounded or cordate at base; margins serrate; surfaces stellate, grey, grey-green or blue-green above, paler and less hairy below; stipules 1.5–3 mm long.
Flowers usually solitary, although sometimes appearing in racemes on a rachis with spaced single flowers subtended by bracts 0.5–1.5 mm long; pedicel not exceeding leaves, 1.5–25 mm long, with hairs denser above articulation. Calyx lobes acute, 2.2–2.6 mm long. Corolla 4–5 mm long, emarginate.
Fruit conical at centre, 4–5 mm diam., smooth above, wrinkled below, glabrous except for sparse hairs about apical grooves; mericarps 5, smooth apically on lateral wall, reticulate below, splitting widely in 2 at apex, unawned.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on sandy soils near lake shores, sandhills and sandy ridges.
