Description: Shrub 1–3 m high, rusty-tomentose.
Leaves linear to lanceolate, mostly 4–9 cm long, usually 4–8 mm wide, rarely to 12 mm wide, margins not toothed, upper surface usually glabrous, sometimes finely pubescent, with veins obscure or slightly impressed; petiole 5–10 mm long.
Cymes few-flowered, much shorter than leaves. Calyx 8–15 mm long, sparsely pubescent along prominent midribs, blue to purple, lobes acute.
Capsule 12–15 mm diam., densely hirsute, furrowed between the carpels which are rounded on the back, scarcely separating at maturity.
Flowering: spring to summer.
Distribution and occurrence: In eucalypt forest on the coast and ranges; north from Port Stephens; rare.
