Description: Erect annual herb, 50–100 cm high, ± glabrous or basally bristly.
Leaves broad-lanceolate to ± oblong, 3–12 cm long, 25–45 mm wide, pinnatifid with acute lobes, margins toothed, surfaces glabrous or sparsely pilose; sessile, upper leaves ± stem-clasping with lacerate auricles.
Inflorescence corymbose; heads cylindrical, 2–3 mm diam., mostly glabrous; involucral bracts 7–9, 5–6 mm long; bracteoles 2–5. Florets 15–25, 1–2 mm longer than involucre; outer florets filiform; inner florets tubular.
Achenes 2.0–2.5 mm long, green to brown; pappus 4–5 mm long.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows chiefly in sclerophyll forest; mainly south from Gibraltar Ra.
