Description: Spreading perennial to c. 30 cm high; branches hairy.
Leaves semiterete, usually succulent, to c. 15 mm long, hairy when young.
Fruiting perianth subglobose, c. 3 mm diam., sparsely hairy; spines 3 or 4, 2 of these 3–5 mm long, the other 1 or 2 shorter.
Seed vertical.
Distribution and occurrence: Usually grows on clay soils, often in saline areas.
