Description: Rhizome long-creeping, 3–7 mm diam., densely covered with brown, acuminate, papery scales.

Fronds to 65 cm long; stipe to 30 cm long, often scaly when young; lamina dark green, shiny, broad-triangular, 2-pinnate with pinnae pinnatisect to 3-pinnate.

Sori numerous, slightly sunken, in 2 rows midway between margin and midvein, spores black; indusium peltately attached, with a dark centre, ± persistent.


Distribution and occurrence: Grows on rocks or trees along rainforest margins.
NSW subdivisions: CC, SC, NT, CT, ST
