Description: Decumbent to erect, annual herb; stems to 80 cm long, sparsely hirsute.
Leaves elliptic to obovate, 1–6.5 cm long, 3–13 mm wide, apex acute, lamina sparsely hispid; petiole to 4 mm long.
Involucral bracts 2 or 4, broad-ovate. Flowers 20 or more in a head. Calyx 6-lobed; lobes narrow, about twice the length of tube, margins long-ciliate. Corolla white, 6-lobed, tube 2–5 mm long. Mericarps 3, 2–3.5 mm long, abaxial surface shortly papillose, adaxial surface closed into a narrow groove.
Flowering: spring–autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Weed of disturbed sites; uncommon, chiefly in the Maclean district. Native of S Amer.
