Description: Perennial, glabrous or with sparse spreading hairs.
Flowering stems mostly 5–15 cm high, unbranched.
Leaves with lamina 0.6–4.5 cm long, ternate or biternate with lobed segments; petiole 1–15 cm long. Flowers mostly 15–25 mm diam. Petals 5, rarely to 7, 7–14 mm long, 4.5–9 mm wide.
Achenes 2.4–3 mm long, the sides smooth or slightly dimpled; beak slender, 1–1.7 mm long, straight or incurved or slightly recurved.
Flowering: summer.
Distribution and occurrence: In wet alpine sites below semipermanent snow patches on Kosciusko plateau.
