Description: Perennial. Flowering stems simple.
Leaves with lamina 0.4–2 cm long, with 3–5 segments, which are often further bifid or trifid; petiole 1–8 cm long.
Flowers mostly 6–15 mm diam. Petals 5, rarely to 12.
Achenes mostly 10–20, smooth, with an erect or incurved beak.
Flowering: Summer.
Distribution and occurrence: In swamps and fens, particularly in depressions subject to inundation; high mountain areas from Mt Gingera to Mt Kosciusko.
