Description: Shrub with stout spines, young twigs hoary.
Leaves obovate to broad-spathulate, 2.5–5 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, apex rounded to emarginate, base cuneate; margins almost entire to crenate-toothed; both surfaces glabrous; petiole 5–10 mm long.
Inflorescence a many-flowered corymb, 3–4 ca across. Petals 8–9 mm long, white. Pome 6–7 mm diam., scarlet to crimson.
Distribution and occurrence: Widely cultivated, occasionally naturalized. Native of China.

Other Australian states: *Vic.
The accepted name (Australian Plant Census) for this species has reverted to P. fortuneana in 2018. We retain here synonyms as per APC for now, but Kew's Plants of the World Online suggests P. crenatoserrata refers to a different species. K.L. Gibbons, 19 Sept. 2020.
