Description: Erect shrub; stems appressed-pubescent.
Leaves alternate, obovate or rarely linear to elliptic, 5–20 mm long, 2–7 mm wide, apex acute to obtuse and recurved, margins recurved to revolute, upper surface darker than lower; stipules 3–5 mm long.
Inflorescences terminal, dense; bracts imbricate, persistent, 4–5 mm long, 2–3-lobed, ovate to broad-spathulate, central lobe setaceous; lateral lobes obtuse. Flowers 7–10 mm long; pedicels c. 1 mm long; bracteoles 3–4 mm long, lacking stipules, oblong to obovate, acuminate to acute, keeled, margins and keel hairy, attached at base or lower part of calyx tube. Calyx 5–8 mm long, densely hairy; lobes acuminate. Ovary hairy.
Pod c. 6 mm long, flattened.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath to dry sclerophyll forest on a variety of substrates, swampy to well-drained sites, north from Port Stephens.
