Pteris ensiformis Burm.f. APNI*

Description: Rhizome short-creeping, covered with dark brown lanceolate scales.

Fronds to 35 cm long, 1-pinnatifid to incompletely 2-pinnate, pale green, somewhat dimorphic; stipe ascending, slender, pale, to 20 cm long; primary pinnae increasing in size towards base of frond; lowermost primary pinnae 16 cm long.

Sterile fronds shorter than the fertile and the margins of their segments irregularly toothed. Fertile fronds with narrower segments that are toothed only at the apex. Sori narrow, continuous.


Distribution and occurrence: A number of forms are cultivated; naturalized in Sydney district. Native of Qld, Asia, Pac.
