Prasophyllum solstitium D.L.Jones APNI* Description: Terrestrial herb, 30–45 cm high.
Leaf 15–40 cm long, bright green with purplish base.
Inflorescence 10–35-flowered, moderately crowded. Flowers greenish pink to purplish red with whitish, pinkish, reddish or purplish labellum, strongly fragrant. Dorsal sepal narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 8.5–10 mm long, 3–4 mm wide, deflexed or recurved distally. Lateral sepals free, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, 8.5–10 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide. Lateral petals porrect to slightly upswept, incurved, linear to narrowly linear-lanceolate, 6.5–7.5 mm long, c. 1.8 mm wide. Labellum very shortly stalked; lamina 5–6 mm long, 4–4.5 mm wide, broadly ovate-lanceolate when flattened, porrect in proximal half, recurved nearly at right angle near the middle; apex often projecting between the lateral sepals, the margins widely flared, entire proximally, undulate-crenate distally. Callus plate ovate-lanceolate, fleshy, with a narrow median channel, c. 5 mm long, c. 3 mm wide, green, glabrous.

Flowering: Dec–January, flowering in the absence of fire.
Distribution and occurrence: Restricted to the New England Tableland, NE NSW. Grows in grassy flats dominated by Themeda australis and Bothriochloa sp., on heavy black basaltic loam. Alt. 800-900 m.
