Prasophyllum holzingeri is a member of the P. patens-P. odoratum species flock, and critical comparison with other members of this flock, including P. album, P. anticum, P. canobolense, P. brevisepalum and P. graniticola by population genetic data is required. Described as allied to P. dossenum, but differing by its narrower labellum (4-4.5 vs 5-6 mm wide) which is oblong (vs ovate to ovate-oblong), and an oblong callus (vs ovate-cuneate).
