Prasophyllum exilis D.L.Jones & R.J.Bates APNI*
Description: Terrestrial herb, to 20 cm high.
Leaf to 12 cm long, dark green.
Inflorescence usually < 10-flowered, sparse. Flowers green or purplish brown and white, often smelling strongly like cultivated lilacs. Dorsal sepal linear to ovate, to 6 mm long. Lateral sepals linear to lanceolate, to 6.5 mm long, united almost to their tips with free tips often knobby. Lateral petals linear to oblong, to 5.5 mm long, c. 1 mm wide, margins wrinkled. Labellum to 7 mm long and 2.8 mm wide, sessile and oblong when flattened; in living flowers the lamina so sharply reflexed and compressed that the upper half appears to be folded on top of the lower half, upper margins very wrinkled to ruffled. Callus plate linear to ovate, shiny greenish, with a central channel, ornamented with pimply tufts, the plate ending just beyond the sharp bend in the lamina. Column with wings linear, sigmoid (tips acute) and purplish; rostellum as high as wings.
Flowering: June–September
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in damp grassy sites in sclerophyll forest, woodland and wallum communities; rare in N.S.W., north from Cudgen Lake.
