Description: Slender shrub to 8 m high; stems densely covered with coppery simple hairs, often reddish on new growth.
Leaves lanceolate to narrow-elliptic or oblong, 2.5–10 cm long, 7–22 mm wide, apex acute; upper surface glabrous; lower surface silky with simple hairs whitish to yellowish, the hairs of the veins and margins more strongly coloured and appressed so that the surface of the hair layer is ± level with the raised lateral veins; stipules narrow-lanceolate, 3–4 mm long, caducous.
Flowers golden, in dense terminal panicles. Petals absent. Hypanthium and capsule covered with semi-appressed simple hairs. Open forest on the escarpment ranges from near the Tuross Falls south to almost the Victorian border.
