Description: Erect shrub to 2 m high, sometimes prostrate under extreme conditions; young stems with short whitish simple hairs.
Leaves narrow-elliptic to lanceolate, 0.5–2.5 cm long, 2–4 mm wide, apex often mucronate, margins thickened but not prominently recurved; upper surface glabrous, midrib impressed; lower surface silky with whitish simple hairs, secondary veins usually not apparent.
Flowers in compact terminal panicles 1–4 cm diam. Petals present. Hypanthium with long appressed hairs.

Distribution and occurrence: Widespread, usually on rocky hillsides, at higher altitudes south from Gibraltar Ra. N.P. Usually on rocky hillsides, at higher altitudes.

Often confused with P. andromedifolia subsp. andromedifolia, small-leaved form.
