Description: Shrub or small tree with smooth grey bark, 1–6 m high; new growth and young stems coppery-hairy, longer hairs simple.
Leaves lanceolate to elliptic, 5–12 cm long, 15–30 mm wide, gradually tapering to acute to acuminate apex; upper surface glabrous; lower surface silvery but not silky, hairs dense, short; secondary veins regularly arranged and mostly with longer ± straight hairs, tertiary veins usually not apparent.
Flowers white, cream or yellow, in sparse panicles. Sepals not persistent in fruit, 1.3–2 mm long. Petals usually absent; if present white or cream, auriculate and often falling early.
Capsule and hypanthium silvery-grey with scattered long hairs.
Distribution and occurrence: Mostly in moist open forest. Widespread in gullies on the escarpment north from the Barrington Tops district, also found west of Tenterfield.
