Plectranthus ornatus Codd APNI*
Description: Unpleasantly aromatic, decumbent to trailing, perennial herb to 30 cm high, branching freely at the base; branches succulent, covered by minute gland-tipped hairs.
Leaves with lamina succulent, obovate to broad-obovate, mostly 2–4 cm long, 1.5–3 cm wide; apex rounded; base cuneate; margins finely crenate-toothed with 4–6 pairs of small teeth; both surfaces sparsely to densely hairy, with shortly appressed hairs, especially on veins below, usually with orange sessile glands; petiole 0.2–1 cm long.
Calyx c. 3 mm long, to 6 mm long in fruit. Corolla 20–25 mm long, blue-mauve, with dark markings on upper lip, slightly hairy; tube slightly decurved; lobes occasionally with sessile glands.
Flowering: throughout year.
Distribution and occurrence: Doubtfully naturalized in the Sydney district. Native of Ethiopia to Tanzania. SYNONYMS: ?CC.
