Plectorrhiza erecta (Fitzg.) Dockrill APNI* Description: Erect epiphyte or lithophyte, with 1 unbranched shoot or up to 5 branching shoots, with prominent, often tangled, aerial roots descending to support the plant; stems 10–60 cm long.
Leaves narrowly ovate to oblong, 2–4.5 cm long, 6–12 mm wide, coriaceous, bright green.
Inflorescence 1.5–4.5 cm long, 6–9-flowered, basally suberect but strongly curved downwards towards tip; pedicel plus ovary 5–6 mm long. Flowers cupped. Sepals and lateral petals narrowly oblong-ovate, yellowish orange, much blotched with purplish brown within, c. 4 mm long. Labellum cream coloured; midlobe c. 1 mm long, triangular, obtuse; lateral lobes c. 1 mm long, triangular; spur c. 1.5 mm long, curved.
Flowering: November–January
Distribution and occurrence: Lord Howe Island. Locally occasional to common in a variety of sites from closed forest to open clearings, at 100-530 m alt.
