Plantago cladarophylla B.G.Briggs, Carolin & Pulley APNI* 
Description: Perennial herb, with adventitious roots and often also a taproot; almost glabrous or with tufts of hairs on the teeth of the leaves.
Leaves basal, linear-elliptic to lanceolate or elliptic, 7–26 cm long, 8–22 mm wide, 3- or 5-veined, margins entire or with a few obtuse teeth.
Scapes 10–30 cm long at flowering; spike narrow-cylindrical, 10–13 cm long, becoming open in fruiting stage; bracts elliptic to ovate, 2–3 mm long with a broad, pilose keel. Sepals elliptic, 1.8–2 mm long, glabrous, with a narrow keel. Corolla lobes ovate, 1.2–1.9 mm long.
Capsule ovoid, 4–5 mm long; seeds 2 or rarely to 5.
Flowering: August–January
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in swamps, along stream banks and in herbfields on Barrington and Gloucester Tops plateaus.
