Plantago alpestris B.G.Briggs, Carolin & Pulley APNI* 
Description: Perennial herb, with adventitious roots; pilose or almost glabrous.
Leaves basal, oblanceolate to elliptic or obovate to elliptic, 6–8 cm long, 10–20 mm wide, 3-veined with the lateral veins often indistinct, margins entire.
Scapes 8–16 cm long; spike ovoid to cylindrical, dense 1.5–3 cm long; bracts ovate, 2–2.5 cm long. Sepals elliptic, 1.5–1.8 mm long, glabrous, with a narrow keel. Corolla lobes ovate to triangular, 1–1.2 mm long.
Capsule broad-ovoid, 2.5–2.8 mm long; seeds 4.
Flowering: December–March
Distribution and occurrence: Grows along creek banks, edges of bogs and in grassland, in the alpine and subalpine zones of Kosciusko plateau and Mt Jagungal.
