Pimelea pauciflora R.Br. APNI*
Description: Erect dioecious shrub to 3 m high, glabrous.
Leaves narrow-elliptic, those immediately below the inflorescence sometimes wider, mostly 5–20 mm long, 1–2.5 mm wide.
Flowers in bracteate heads, entirely glabrous, often on very short lateral shoots; peduncle c. 1 mm long. Bracts 2 or 4, ± narrow-ovate, 4–10 mm long, persistent in fruit. Flowers glabrous, 4–9 in each head, greenish yellow; male flowers 2–5 mm long, female flowers c. 3.5 mm long.
Fruit red, c. 4 mm long, partly enclosed in hypanthium.
Distribution and occurrence: Often forming dense stands in open forest, woodland or scrub; south from Queanbeyan at higher altitudes.
