Description: Erect perennial 20–120 cm high, few to many-branched, with dense simple to bifid hooked hairs.
Basal leaves petiolate, linear-lanceolate to spathulate, attenuate at the base, 10–45 X 1–4 cm, obtuse to acute, entire to dentate; cauline leaves reduced upwards, sessile, truncate to cordate at the base.
Inflorescence a loose terminal corymb, heads pedunculate with few to many bracts at the base;, 5–9 mm diam., involucral bracts 4–19 mm long, outer squarrose with recurved tips, tomentose or with simple or hooked hairs on the midrib. Florest bisexual, with ligules 5–8 mm long, yellow.
Achenes 5–8 mm long with a beak shorter than the body, 5-ribbed, glabrous; pappus 5.5–10.5 mm long, of inner barbellate bristles and outer plumose bristles.
Flowering: Oct to Apr
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in NSW, Vic, SA, WA. On coastal sand-dunes or river banks and floodplains, at lower altitudes.
