Peristeranthus hillii (F.Muell.) T.E.Hunt APNI*
Description: Semi-pendent epiphyte, with 1 or rarely 2 or more shoots; stems 3–25 cm long.
Leaves narrow-oblong, 5–25 cm long, 15–40 mm wide.
Inflorescence 5–25 cm long, 25–75-flowered, pendent; rachis much longer than peduncle; pedicel plus ovary 1.5–3 mm long. Flowers widely opening but sepals and petals strongly incurved at apices. Sepals and lateral petals narrow-oblong to spathulate, 2.5–3.5 mm long, green with crimson spots. Labellum 2–2.5 mm long, yellow with crimson spots. Column 1–1.5 mm long, erect near the base but deflexed through 90° from the middle; foot 0.5–0.8 mm long.
Flowering: September–October
Distribution and occurrence: Grows on trees and woody climbers in rainforest, particularly in littoral rainforest; recorded north from the Hastings R., north from Port Macquarie, at or near sea level.
