Description: Twiner with young stems and leaves with scattered hairs.
Leaves usually 3-lobed, lamina 4–12 cm long, cordate at base, margins shallowly toothed; petiole 3–6 cm long, with 2 stalked glands towards apex; stipules c. 10 mm long, c. 5 mm wide at base, curved and tapering into a fine point at apex.
Flowers white, 2.5–4.5 cm diam., corona banded with purple or blue.
Berry ± globose, 20 mm diam., deep purple.
Distribution and occurrence: Rarely naturalized near habitations. Native of Amer.
