Paspalum regnellii Mez APNI* 
Description: Rhizomatous perennials with stout, glabrous, terete culms to 1.5 m tall; nodes glabrous.
Basal sheaths persistent on rhizome as pubescent fragments; upper sheaths usually glabrous but sometimes sparsely long ciliate with tubercle-based hairs near the margins; ligule truncate to obtuse, 0.5–2 mm long, with a row of long hairs behind it; blade glabrous, 1.2–2 cm wide, the base cordate to rounded, the midrib whitish, prominent, the margin of one or both sides often scabrid and/or undulate.
Inflorescence tardily exserted, 11–21 cm long, a primary axis with 5–8 erect to divaricate, moderately dense racemes; racemes 4–3 cm long, with long white hairs on the darker coloured pubescent area near the node. Spikelets 2.5–3 mm long, elliptic, obtuse to subacute, usually sparsely pubescent, borne in 4 (sometimes 2) overlapping rows on the raceme, falling entire. Lower glume absent; upper glume convex, equalling or subequalling the spikelet, obtuse, 3(-5)-nerved, long pubescent, fringed with c. 0.5 mm long white hairs; lower lemma similar to the upper glume, flat or sometimes depressed on the back, 3–5-nerved, glabrous or pubescent. Fertile lemma convex, hard, punctulate-striolate, shining, golden brown with white edges at maturity; palea similar to its lemma but slightly darker in colour, flat or sometimes depressed on the back, apex rounded.
Flowering: Summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Naturalized in the Macksville district. Native of South America. A naturalised pasture species.
