Oxalis rubens Haw. APNI* 
Description: Herb with branches erect or ascending, to 35 cm long, dull red-brown, usually glabrous or sparsely hairy, with hairs mostly antrorse; roots fibrous, branched; bulbils absent.
Leaves cauline, sometimes subopposite or fasciculate, 3-foliolate, angular-shaped; leaflets purplish green, subglaucous, cuneate-obcordate, bilobed, sinus to a third or half length of leaflet; lobes oblong to obovate, 2.5–6 mm long, 1.5–5 mm wide, with lobe apices broad-obtuse and 1.5–7 mm apart; petiole 7–30 cm long; stipules mostly conspicuous; apex truncate to abruptly tapering to petiole.
Inflorescences 1- or 2-flowered. Petals 7–8 mm long, yellow.
Fruit erect, usually held above the leaves, long and cylindrical, 15–18 mm long, 3–4 mm diam.; outer surface with simple retrorse hairs; seeds ribbed.
Flowering: February–November
Distribution and occurrence: Commonly grows on islands, beaches and coastal sand dunes.
