Ornithogalum pyramidale L. APNI*
Description: Erect herb, 0.3–1.2 m high; bulb 2.5–4 cm diam.
Leaves 4–7, flat, to 100 cm long, 6–15 mm wide.
Inflorescence a raceme with up to 50–70 flowers, shorter than the leaves; bracts shorter than flowers; lower pedicels to 3 cm long. Tepals 11–15 mm long, white with a green stripe on outer surface. Staminal filaments acuminate. Ovary subglobose to ellipsoid.
Capsule oblong, 13 mm long; apex emarginate to truncate.
Flowering: June–August
Distribution and occurrence: Grows as weed in crops, in Nemingha district, near Tamworth. Native of C Eur.
