Description: Erect undershrub with rush-like stems to c. 1 m high; branches opposite, occasionally clustered, often ending in a weak spine; minutely papillose, glabrous.
Leaves triangular scales, usually 1–2 mm long.
Inflorescence opposite; flowers 1–3, bisexual. Calyx 2.2–3.5 mm long; lobes ovate to narrow-ovate. Corolla 4–5.5 mm long, white; tube 1.7–2.5 mm long, as long as lobes or to about a third the length of lobes; lobes oblong to somewhat ovate, obtuse; outer surface papillose to densely hairy; inner surface with long dense hairs below, becoming sparser and papillose above mouth. Stamens inserted in mouth.
Capsule 5–5.5 mm long.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in mallee communities on sandy soils; chiefly from west of Nymagee to Pooncarie district, uncommon.
