Oenothera rosea L'Hér. ex Aiton APNI*
Description: Perennial shrub to c. 60 cm high, with or without basal rosette; stems usually numerous, slender and sparsely branched, pubescent, hairs antrorse.
Basal leaves oblanceolate, 2–5 cm long, margins entire to pinnatifid, petiole 5–20 mm long; cauline leaves mostly ovate to lanceolate, 1–3 cm long, margins finely toothed or sometimes sinuate or lobed, often reduced and bract-like on upper part of stem, petiole 0–11 mm long.
Flowers in upper leaf axils. Hypanthium 0.4–0.8 mm long. Sepals 5–8 mm long. Petals c. 10 mm long, usually deep pink.
Fruit clavate, ribbed, pubescent, upper part 5–7 mm long, 3.5–4 mm wide, pedicel 5–20 mm long, upper part narrowly winged.
Flowering: spring–autumn.
Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated widely and frequently naturalized. Native of Amer.
