Nigella damascena L. APNI* 
Description: Erect, branching herb to 60 cm high.
Leaves 3–8 cm long, petiolate.
Flowers surrounded by an involucre of dissected leaves. Sepals 12–22 mm long, blue or white.
Follicles 5, completely united, forming an inflated 10-celled capsule 15–20 mm long, topped with long spreading styles.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Cultivated horticulturally, doubtfully naturalized in Kyogle district. Native of Medit. region.
