Common name: Matted Nertera
Nertera granadensis (Mutis) Druce APNI*
Description: Prostrate, delicate, glabrous herb; stems much-branched, up to 10 cm long, ± rooting at the nodes, often forming dense mats.
Leaves ovate to ± circular, 2–8 mm long, 2–5 mm wide, apex ± obtuse, sometimes mucronate, lamina glabrous; petiole up to 5 mm long.
Flowers solitary, terminal on short pedicels. Calyx lobes ± absent. Corolla campanulate with a short tube c. 1.5 mm long, yellowish green or pinkish.
Fruit ovoid or globose, 3–4 mm wide, orange-red.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in bogs and wet soil or on rocks near water, south from Gibraltar Ra.
NSW subdivisions: NC, NT, CT, ST
Other Australian states: Vic. Tas. S.A.
Specimens from the ST appear to be a dwarf form with very small leaves.
