Neoastelia spectabilis J.B.Williams APNI* 
Description: Tufted herb.
Leaves ± linear with ends ± drooping, 60–165 cm long, 2.5–6 cm wide, upper surface green and ± glabrous, lower surface silver-white.
Panicles exserted, open, 25–70 cm long; peduncle 18–40 cm long, mostly with a long leaf near the apex; spathes 10–13, the lowest ones leafy, subtending branched sub-panicles, upper spathes smaller, membranous and subtending many-flowered racemes; pedicels 4–17 mm long. Perianth membranous, 8–11 mm long, glabrous except for basal tube, white, tepals reflexed.
Berry obovoid to globose, 10–15 mm long, pale green; seeds 70–150, c. 1.2 mm long, black.
Flowering: November–December
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in rock crevices near waterfalls and in seepage lines on rocky slopes in Nothofagus forest at 900–1150 m alt.; confined to New England N.P.
