Myriophyllum lophatum Orchard APNI*
Description: Perennial herb, subaquatic or emergent; stems c. 1 mm diam., ± prostrate.
Leaves opposite, linear, mostly 2.5–3 mm long.
Plants monoecious; male and female flowers on the same shoot, or different shoots, solitary in the axils. Male flowers initially sessile with the pedicel elongating as much as 10 mm; sepals vestigial or absent; petals 1.5–2 mm long, red. Female flowers sessile; sepals and petals absent; stigmas white. Mericarps cylindrical, < 1 mm long, red to yellowish brown, with an irregular dorsal crest.
Distribution and occurrence: in boggy margins of streams and waterholes.
