Melaleuca nodosa (Sol. ex Gaertn.) Sm. APNI* 
Description: Shrub usually 1–4 m high with a corky to papery bark.
Leaves alternate, rigid, very variable, terete, linear or oblong, mostly 10–40 mm long, 1–3 mm wide, apex straight, pungent, glabrous; petiole to 1 mm long.
Inflorescences dense, pseudopedunculate heads; rachis silky. Flowers solitary, paired or in threes within each bract, white to yellow. Petals ± circular, 1–1.5 mm long. Stamens 3–5 per bundle; claw 1–2 mm long.
Fruit angular ovoid, 2–3 mm diam., orifice 1–1.5 mm diam.; sepals not persistent in fruit; fruit usually persisting in globose clusters 6–10 mm diam.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Widespread in a variety of habitats, especially in coastal heath and dry sclerophyll forest; north from Campbelltown.
