Melaleuca groveana Cheel & C.T.White APNI* 
Description: Shrub or small tree 2–5 m rarely to 10 m high with firm fibrous-papery bark.
Leaves alternate, narrow-elliptic, mostly 20–55 mm long, 3–8 mm wide, apex acute, usually apiculate, glabrous; petiole 1.5–3 mm long.
Inflorescences few- to many-flowered spikes 2–3 cm long; rachis ± glabrous. Flowers solitary within each bract, white. Petals broad-ovate, up to 4 mm long. Stamens 11–26 per bundle; claw 1–3 mm long.
Fruit barrel-shaped, 4–7 mm diam., orifice 2–3 mm diam.; sepals not persistent.
Flowering: spring.
Distribution and occurrence: Grows in heath, often in exposed sites; rare, restricted to higher areas, coastal districts north from Howes Valley and Port Stephens.
