Maurandya barclayana Lindl. APNI* Synonyms: Asarina barclaiana (Lindl.) Pennell APNI*
Description: Slender herbaceous vine, glabrous except calyx.
Leaves with lamina triangular-cordate or triangular-hastate, 1–3.5 cm long, 8–30 mm wide, apex acute to attenuate, basal lobes acute or obtuse, occasionally margins with minute teeth towards base, palmately 5–7-veined; petiole 1–1.5 cm long.
Peduncles 2–5 cm long. Sepals long-acuminate, 10–15 mm long in flower, to 20 mm long in fruit, glandular hispid. Corolla 3–4.5 cm long, purple, paler towards base; lobes much shorter than tube, obtuse, the lower 3 pointed forwards.
Capsule ± obliquely globose, usually 8–10 mm long, ± persistent style 15–20 mm long.
Flowering: spring–summer.
Distribution and occurrence: Occasionally cultivated for its showy flowers; rarely naturalized in coastal districts, north from Sydney. Native of Mexico.
