Macrozamia johnsonii D.L.Jones & K.D.Hill APNI* Synonyms: Macrozamia moorei F.Muell. p.p. APNI*
Description: Plant with massive aerial trunk, mostly 2–5 m high, 30–70 cm diam.
Leaves to 150 in the crown, 150–300 cm long, rachis not twisted; pinnae 150–250, mostly straight, the longest 20–40 cm long, 5–11 mm wide, c. 40 of the lowest pinnae progressively reduced to spines and extending almost to the base of the rachis; spine-free petiole 0–10 cm long.
Male cones 30–45 cm long, 8–10 cm diam., longest spines 1–2 cm long. Female cones 40–90 cm long, 12–19 cm diam., longest spines 2.5–7 cm long; seeds 4–5 cm long, scarlet when ripe.
Distribution and occurrence: Foothills of ranges in tall wet sclerophyll forest and margins of rainforest, generally on steep slopes; Clarence R. valley. Occasionally cultivated as an ornamental. Wet to dry sclerophyll forest.
