Macrozamia heteromera C.Moore APNI*
Description: Stem mostly subterranean, 8–15 cm diam.
Leaves 2–10 in the crown, at first erect, later spreading, 45–80 cm long, rachis not twisted or up to 1800 near the end, but usually ± recurved throughout; pinnae 80–130, pinnae once or twice divided, longest pinnae 10–20 cm long, undivided pinnae 3–7 mm wide, divided segments 1–5 mm wide; petiole 5–12 cm long.
Male cones 12–20 cm long, 4–5 cm diam., spines to 1.4 cm long. Female cones 10–25 cm long, 8–12 cm diam., longest spines 1–2 cm long; seeds 2–3.5 cm long, scarlet.
Distribution and occurrence: In dry sclerophyll forest on sandy and stony soils, mainly in the ranges; chiefly in the Pilliga - Warrumbungle Ra. area, also at Warialda and Howell. Dry sclerophyll forest on sandy and stony soil.
